Hard Top

Regular price R660.00

"Hard Top" features unreleased 1975 recordings by South African saxophonist Kippie Moketsi, released by As-Shams/The Sun in a 2LP gatefold edition. A jazz figurehead, Moketsi mentored artists like Miriam Makeba and Hugh Masekela, while maintaining a dedicated local career. Produced by Rashid Vally, "Hard Top," named after Moketsi's nickname, showcases his interpretations of rhythm and blues, 1970s pop, and funk with a South African twist. Released on the 100th anniversary of his birth, it honours Moketsi's legacy and the late producer Rashid Vally's support.
